GNT Grand National Teamshttp://www.acbl.org/assets/documents/play/Conditions-of-Contest/Other-GNT_CoC.pdf Grand National Teams Pat Dunn The 2011 edition of the District 19 Grand National Teams competition will conclude in Vancouver, British Columbia on the weekend of April 2-3, 2011, at the Van-couver Bridge Club. Local, club qualifying events have been ongoing for the past several months, and additional opportunities will ensue during February and March check your club schedules for upcoming events. Those desiring to participate in the district finals, who have not qualified at the local stage can buy in for $25 per player beyond the card fees paid for the competition. The competition has four brackets: Open, Flight A (up to 5000 masterpoints), Flight B (up to 2000 masterpoints) and Flight C (non-life masters under 500 masterpoints). You can always ―play up‖to a bracket beyond your mas-terpoint total, if so desired. Our hope is that additional publicity will increase the participation level at the dis-trict final stage. The winning team from each division qualifies for the national finals stage, with some financial subsidy coming from District 19. The national finals will occur at the beginning of the Summer NABC in Toronto, Canada, with play starting July 21, 2011. More complete information will be forthcoming. As past participants can attest, these are both enjoyable and challenging events. Our unit’s competitors have fre-quently prevailed at the district level, and performed with distinction at the national stage. We hope to have a strong contingent moving forward in 2011. Pat Dunn (pjdunn@comcast.net) is now the district co-ordinator for both the Grand National Teams and North American Pairs events. Thanks and appreciation go to his predecessor Tom Hansen for his tireless service.
